CHERYL'S RED VELVET CAKE 
3 3/4 c. plain flour
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. salt
3 eggs
2 1/4 c. sugar
2 5/8 c. vegetable oil
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 oz. red food coloring
1 1/2 tsp. vinegar

Sift dry ingredients. Cream sugar, milk, eggs and oil. Blend dry ingredients into creamed mixture. Add vanilla, coloring and vinegar. Pour batter into 3 greased and floured 8 inch layer pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes.

FROSTING:

12 oz. cream cheese
1 1/2 stick butter, softened
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 box powdered sugar

Cream all ingredients.
