CORNBREAD WAFFLES 
1 c. plain yellow cornmeal
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs, beaten
1 1/4 c. buttermilk
2 tbsp. melted shortening, butter or bacon grease

Combine dry ingredients. Mix eggs and milk together, then add to dry ingredients. Add melted fat. Cook on a well greased waffle iron. Serve with soups or stews.
