STEWED TOMATOES 
1 pt. tomatoes
Paper thin slices onion
Bit of bay leaf
1 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. baking soda cracker crumbs
1/4 tsp. salt
Add water (if needed)

Cook the tomatoes and seasonings for 10 minutes. Sprinkle cracker crumbs over top of simmering tomatoes and work in slowly. Add a bit of butter, if desired.
