LYNN'S JAM CAKE - BLACKBERRY 
2 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
1 c. buttermilk
2 c. jam
6 eggs
2 1/4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. each cinnamon and allspice
1 c. raisins
1 c. chopped nuts

Makes 4 layers.

ICING:

4 c. sugar
2 c. milk
2 tbsp. butter
1 c. nuts
1/2 lb. chopped dates
1 tbsp. vanilla

Cook until forms soft ball. Frost cakes while warm.
