CHINESE - STYLE VEGETABLE MEDLEY 
1 sm. head green cabbage (about 1 lb.)
1 tbsp. shortening
1 c. thin diagonal slices celery
1 med. green pepper, cut into thin diagonal slices
2/3 c. chopped onion
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper

Prepare 3 cups of shredded cabbage as follows: Heat 1/2 inch salted water to boiling. Add cabbage. Cover and heat to boiling; cook 5 minutes. Drain. Add vegetables and stir. Cover; steam 5 minutes or until crisp-tender, stirring several times. Add salt and pepper. If desired, stir in 1 tablespoon soy sauce.
