BUTTERMILK ROLLS | |
1 pkg. yeast 1/2 c. warm water 1 c. buttermilk (lukewarm) 1 tsp. salt 1/4 c. shortening 1/4 c. sugar 1/2 tsp. baking soda 4 c. flour 1 egg Mix yeast and warm water together and let set until you prepare the other ingredients. Add together and beat at medium speed until blended. Gradually stir in enough flour to make a very soft dough (4 cups). Turn out on floured board and knead 6 or 7 times. Place in a greased pan and let rise until double in size. Turn out on board again work or knead several times and then make out into rolls. Bake at 375 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes. |
