BUTTERMILK HOT ROLLS 
2 pkgs. yeast
1/2 c. sugar
3 tbsp. shortening
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
2 c. buttermilk
5 c. flour

Dissolve 2 packages yeast in 1/2 cup lukewarm water; add shortening and sugar. Mix salt, soda and baking powder with flour, alternate milk and flour mixture. Pour batter on floured board. Knead lightly, place in greased bowl and cover. Place in refrigerator until needed. When ready for use, pinch off as much as you want. Knead lightly. Make into rolls and let rise until double. Bake at 400 degrees until brown. This may be made up the night before.
