SAUSIJZE BROODJES (PIGS IN THE
BLANKET)
 
PASTRY:

2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
Scant 1/2 c. shortening
2/3 c. milk

FILLING:

1 1/2 lb. of sausage or 1 lb. sausage and 1/2 lb. ground
beef
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper

Mix as pie crust and roll out thin. Cut in pieces about 4 inches square. Fill each square with an oblong of filling. Roll up and seal edges. Bake at 375 degrees for 35 minutes or until golden brown. Makes 2 to 2 1/2 dozen. They freeze well.
