MOM'S PLUM PUDDING | |
1 c. raisins 1 c. suet (cut fine) 3/4 c. nuts 1/2 c. white sugar 2 tsp. Brer Rabbit syrup 1 pinch salt 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 c. buttermilk or strong coffee 1 tsp. baking soda Dissolve in hot water or hot coffee, flour to stiffen, about 5 cups flour. Boil in cheese cloth (doubled up, 2 hours). Tie top, leave room to expand. (can use fruit cake fruit optional.) Take out and let dry. BUTTERSCOTCH FOR OVER TOP: 1 c. brown sugar 1 1/2 c. water Thicken with cornstarch. Take off stove and add 1 teaspoon vanilla. |
