CARAMELS (Best Ever)
1 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar (2 c.)
1 c. light corn syrup
Dash of salt
1 can Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Melt butter in a 2 quart saucepan. Add brown sugar, syrup, salt and Eagle Brand sweetened milk. Stir until smooth. Bring to boil over medium heat and stir constantly until mixture reaches 234-242 depending how hard you want your caramels (I cook to 240). Add vanilla.

Pour in buttered 9x9 pan. Cool and cut in squares. Wrap in wax paper for individual caramels.

Microwave method: Melt butter in large bowl. Add sugar, syrup, salt and Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk (stir until smooth). Cook 20 minutes on high. Stir with wooden spoon after 10 minutes. Leave spoon in bowl and cook 10 more minutes. Add vanilla and pour in buttered pan.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
