CHOCOLATE CHIP BLONDE BROWNIES 
1 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 c. butter or other shortening
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 tbsp. hot water if vegetable shortening is used
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 pkg. chocolate chips

Measure flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt. Sift again and mix well then set aside.

Melt butter or other shortening in saucepan; remove from heat. Add brown sugar and mix well. Add water if necessary. Cool slightly. Add slightly beaten egg and vanilla. Then add flour mixture a small amount at a time, mixing well after each addition.

Spread on a greased 9x9x2 inch pan. Sprinkle 1/2 package chocolate chips over top. Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) 20-25 minutes. Cool in pan.
