OLD FASHIONED BREAD PUDDING 
1 stick butter
3 eggs
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
pinch of salt
8 slices stale bread
3 c. milk
1/2 c. raisins
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Melt 1/2 stick butter in 2-quart baking dish. Tear or cube stale bread. Sprinkle evenly in dish. Beat eggs. Add milk and sugar; mix well. Add raisins, vanilla, salt and spices. Pour over bread. Dot with 1/2 stick butter.

Bake at 375°F for 1 hour. Serve warm, plain or with whipped topping or lemon sauce.
