APPLESAUCE CAKE WITH QUICK
CARAMEL FROSTING
 
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 c. raisins
1 c. walnut meats
1 c. applesauce
1 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg
1/2 tsp. cloves

FROSTING:

1/2 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. milk
1 3/4 - 2 c. confectioners' sugar

Cake: Mix all ingredients together. Pour into greased 9x13 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.

Frosting: Melt butter, add brown sugar and cook over low heat 2 minutes, stirring constantly.

Add milk and continue stirring until mixture comes to a boil. Remove from heat and cool. Add confectioners' sugar until frosting reaches spreading consistency. Add 1 tsp. vanilla.
