2 c. sifted flour (self-rising)
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/3 c. shortening (butter Crisco)
2/3 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1/3 c. milk

Combine flour, sugar, shortening, 2/3 cup milk and vanilla together in a bowl. Beat vigorously. Add 1/3 cup milk and egg. Continue beating for 2 minutes. Bake 25 to 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Good with strawberries.
