TO COOK A TURKEY | |
Oil the turkey and place in a tightly covered roasting pan. If using foil, seal tightly. Put in a cold oven. Turn to 500 degrees. Watch when oven light goes off. Time for 35 minutes for a 12 pound turkey, and turn the oven off. For any turkey over 12 pounds time for 5 minutes more a pound. Turn the oven off - DO not open the door - let it set until the oven is cold - (several hours). Turkey will be done. Baste and brown if not brown to your liking. |
