BAKED CUSTARD | |
2 eggs or 4 egg yolks 1/3 c. sugar 1/4 tsp. salt 2 c. milk, scaled 1/2 tsp. vanilla (optional) Heat oven to 350 degrees. Beat eggs, sugar, and salt slightly to mix. Stir in scalded milk. Add vanilla if desired. Pour into 6 custard cups or a 1 1/2 quart baking dish and sit in pan of hot water (1 inch deep). Sprinkle a little nutmeg over tops. Bake 45-50 minutes or just until a silver knife inserted from edge comes out clean. Immediately remove from oven. |
