GREEN TOMATO MINCEMEAT 
Green tomatoes usually end up in pickles or relishes. Here's a mincemeat that combines them with apples, butter, fruit and spices. Use to fill pies, tarts or warm it and serve over ice cream.

18 cups apples, ground
9 cups green tomatoes, ground and drained
3 lb. brown sugar
1/2 tbsp. allspice
2 tbsp. cloves, ground
3 tbsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
2 tbsp. salt
2 lb. raisins
1 cup (2 sticks) butter
fruit juice for thinning

Mix well and simmer until cooked. Put into scalded jars and seal. May be put in hot water bath (boil) for 2 minutes or pressure cooker 5 minutes at 10 pounds pressure.
