1 tbsp. baking powder
1/3 c. shortening
2/3 c. milk
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp. salt

In bowl, mix flour, baking powder and salt. With fork work in milk just until you have ball of soft dough and it leaves side of bowl. Roll out on floured board and cut and place on greased pan. Brush biscuits with beaten egg. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes at 450 degrees. Yields 2 dozen.

NOTE: To reheat, wrap biscuits in foil before putting in oven. These crusty biscuits taste best when warm. Serve with butter, jams or honey.
