SLOW BAKED CHICKEN WINGS
5 lb. frozen chicken wings
10 oz. soy sauce
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
2 tablespoons molasses or honey
1/8 teaspoon (or to taste) cayenne pepper (optional)
5 cloves garlic, peeled
fresh ginger, 1-inch piece, peeled

In a blender, combine soy sauce, sugar, molasses or honey, cayenne pepper, garlic and ginger.

In a disposable aluminum 10x12 inch pan (or a regular pan lined with foil), pour blended mixture over the still-frozen chicken wings.

Place on center oven rack and bake at 250°F for 2 - 2 1/2 hours, turning and basting every 30-40 minutes. When wings are done they will be tender. Remove from sauce and serve immediately or keep warm in a Crock-Pot.

Slow Baked Chicken Wings

I'm not big on soy sauce, mainly because of all the sodium so I substituted low sodium soy. I thawed the party wings (all I could find), mixed the sauce, and poured it over the room temp wings. Baked at 350°F for 1 hr. 20 min. turning the parts over once. Meat was falling off the bone. Took them out of the sauce and put them in a 400°F degree oven until the edges started to bubble (5-10 min.). They remained moist and tender. The only recipe that keeps me in the house all day is my spaghetti sauce which takes 6-8 hours...this worked out much better.

Great recipe! It was a success at family dinner. I did cook them at 300°F for about 2 hours and 45 min and they were just about falling off the bone

Made these for my nieces baby shower, chicken was thawed some, I had no problems with this recipe. I got a lot of raves at the shower, will be making it again.

I've made a similar recipe for years. Mine also contains a shot of brandy, lemon juice and a small bottle of ketchup. I cook at 250°F for 4-5 hours...stirring occasionally. Yummy

I used "party wings" which are a bit smaller than regular wings and I cooked them at about 275 to 300°F semi defrosted. 2 hours later, very flavorful, fall off the bone chicken wings!

Did these for Superbowl, got Rave reviews, skipped the ginger, made it 1/2 and 1/2 Soy Sauce and Teriyaki, added about 1/3 cup Pace Picante' Sauce,.. first 30-45 minutes at 375°F, then 2 1/2 hours at 275°F... perfect...

Your modifications sound delicious - the extra heat from the picante sauce is a great idea, and using half teriyaki with the soy sauce sounds like it added some nice flavor as well. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Does frozen chicken wings mean pre-cooked or fresh? The recipe sounds delicious...

 Cooks.com replies:
Hi Giuseppe,

Frozen wings for this recipe would be raw/uncooked chicken wings.

The wings are cooked long and slow, so there is no need to pre-thaw.

Hope this helps!

this is what my daughter chose to make for dinner tonight. She used unfrozen chicken legs and boneless breasts. turned out great even the picky daughter liked it. This one will be put into the rotation. cooked in just under 2 hours at 250°F.

Just made these, made lots of changes to sauce turned out amazing but I recommend starting with still frozen chicken, cook at 400°F for first half hour, smother in sauce every half hour when you turn, finish last 20 minutes at 400°F. Cooked these at work and certainly pass the ultimate test: the firehouse test.

So good! My family loved this recipe. I ended up cooking the wings for about 4 hours so next time I might thaw them just a bit.

Turned out pretty good, except family not fan of Soy Sauce, any suggestions?

My family is allergic to soy. I used a favorite bar-b-que sauce the first time and it turned out great. This time I am using a combination of steak sauces that I use on my chicken on the grill. It is some A-1 and 57 sauce with extra honey and water. It is amazing on the grill. It should be fantastic here too. This recipe is all about the slow baking the sauce is to your own taste.

Extremely good! 2nd time around I used chicken breast cut up into 1" x 2" pieces. They acquired that same sort of skin you get on ginger/BBQ oriental pork and I thought it was even better that way.

Very yummy. Even my kids enjoyed. Keeping this recipe for future use very soon. It did take about 3 hours to cook though.
