FLAVORFUL GROUND TURKEY
3/4 c. cooking wine or sherry
1/4 c. diced onions
1 clove minced garlic
1 lb. ground turkey

Trying to alter recipes around our house for healthier eating often meant giving up flavor. I have found that browning ground turkey in wine, garlic and onions gives a marvelous flavor to the fowl, without adding fat, cholesterol or sodium! I use my now great tasting turkey as a substitute for ground beef in spaghetti, chili, etc.

I would make sure you read the label on Cooking Wine. It is loaded with sodium. I have been told as a rule of thumb to use a wine you would drink :)

Wow. I did this with frozen-too-long ground turkey and red wine because I didn't have sherry. Afterwards, I used the turkey to make stroganoff. I thought the red wine would discolor the sauce. It didn't. What it did do is add enormous flavor just as promised.

Thank you for this recipe. Am going to copy this - put in front of my recipe card box - for future use. The added three ingredients - are almost a sure hit in anything - so this has to be great. Thanks again...
