3-LAYER CAKE 
2 1/2 c. plain flour
1 2/3 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
2/3 c. butter or Crisco
1 1/4 c. milk
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla

Combine flour, sugar, salt and baking powder in mixing bowl. Add butter or Crisco and 1/2 of milk. Beat with mixer for 2 minutes. Add eggs, additional milk and vanilla. Beat 2 more minutes. Bake 30 minutes at 350 degrees in three layers. Use Fudge Frosting.

FUDGE FROSTING:

1/2 c. butter
2/3 c. cocoa
1/2 c. milk
2 c. sugar
Dash of salt

Melt butter in pan, add remaining ingredients and stir over low heat until sugar dissolves. Then boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat and beat until creamy enough to spread.
