GUMDROP BREAD 
1 c. shortening
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
4 eggs, unbeaten
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. applesauce with 2 tsp. baking soda added
4 c. flour
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped almonds
2 c. chopped dates
3 c. gumdrops

Cream shortening, add eggs and sugar. Beat well. Sift together dry ingredients and add to mixture. Add vanilla, almonds, dates, gumdrops and applesauce. Bake 45 minutes at 325 degrees. Yields 3 loaves.
