TORREJAS 
1 qt. milk
1 cinnamon stick
1/3 c. sugar
12 slices thin French bread
Syrup
3 eggs
Flour
Oil or butter
Cinnamon and sugar
Jam or jelly

Combine milk, sugar, and cinnamon stick. Bring to a boil and simmer until slightly thickened. Allow mixture to cool. Beat eggs until creamy. Have flour and bread at hand. Heat oil or butter in skillet. Dip bread slices quickly into milk mixture. Dust with flour, then dip into eggs. Fry until golden on each side. Serve immediately with cinnamon and sugar, jam or jelly, or syrup.
