FRENCH ORANGE CAKE | |
Cream together: 1 c. butter 2 c. sugar Add: 1/2 tsp. vanilla 2 tbsp. grated orange peel (1 orange) Add 5 eggs (beating well after each addition). Put together: 3 c. flour Pinch of salt 1 tbsp. baking powder Add flour mixture to batter alternately with 3/4 cups milk. Spoon into buttered and floured 10 inch tube pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Cool on wire rack for 2 minutes. Heat in saucepan until sugar is dissolved: 2/3 c. sugar 1/4 c. butter 1/3 c. orange juice Pour evenly over cake in pan. Allow cake to cool thoroughly in pan before removing. Serve with fresh fruit garnish. |
