MRS. R.'S PRALINE SQUARES 
1 3/4 c. butter, room temperature
1 1/2 c. light packed brown sugar
1/4 c. sugar
Yolk of 1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped nuts
2 c. flour

Heat oven to 350 degrees. In a medium size bowl, beat 1 cup of butter, 3/4 cup of the brown sugar, and granulated sugar.

When creamy, beat in egg yolk, vanilla, salt. Stir in 1/2 cups nuts, then flour. Press dough evenly into a 15 x 10 x 1 inch pan, or cookie sheet pan. Bake for 15 minutes. Meanwhile combine 3/4 cup butter, and 3/4 cup brown sugar in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil over high heat, boil 3 minutes, stirring constantly.

Remove baking pan from oven and prick dough all over with fork. Pour sugar syrup over dough and spread evenly. Return to oven for 3 minutes. Remove from oven and sprinkle 1/2 cup nuts over crust. Cool 15 minutes and cut into squares.
