IOWA COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 c. flour
3 c. quick oats
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 c. coconut
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt

Cream shortening and sugars; add eggs and vanilla. Blend in flour, soda, baking powder, salt. Add nuts, coconut and oats. Bake until lightly browned at 375 degrees, about 10 to 15 minutes.
