COFFEE CAKE 
3/4 c. sugar
6 tbsp. shortening
1 egg
2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. milk

STREUSEL MIXTURE:

1/2 c. sugar
1 tbsp. cinnamon
3/4 c. chopped nuts
2 tbsp. flour
2 tbsp. butter

Mix all cake ingredients together. Fold in 1/2 of the streusel mix. Spread in 8 x 8 inch pan. Store in refrigerator overnight. In the a.m. spread the balance of the streusel mixture over top. Bake for 35 minutes at 350 degrees. Batter may be doubled but not necessarily doubling the streusel mixture.
