4 egg whites 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. vanilla 1 tsp. vinegar 1 tsp. water 1 c. sugar Beat first 5 ingredients together in electric mixer until quite stiff. Then gradually add the 1 cup of sugar and beat until very stiff and glossy. Spread on ungreased brown paper to form 1 large shell or make 8 small individual shells. Bake at 275 degrees for approximately 45 minutes. Turn off oven - leave oven door slightly open and leave meringue in until cold. Fill with sweetened fresh fruit and whipped cream. Place paper on large cookie sheet. |
