1 c. quick cook oatmeal
1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/4 tsp. baking soda
6 tbsp. butter
1 sq. unsweetened chocolate, melted
3/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. butter, melted and cooled
1 egg
2/3 c. flour
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 c. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. nuts
1 sq. unsweetened chocolate
2 tbsp. butter
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
16 walnut halves

Stir together oats, 1/2 cup flour, brown sugar, baking soda, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Stir in 6 tablespoons butter. Pat into 11 x 7 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes, then cool.

Mix sugar, 1/4 cup butter and melted chocolate. Add egg and beat well. Stir together 2/3 cup flour, baking powder and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Add to chocolate mixture alternately with milk and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. Stir in nuts.

Spread over oat layer and bake 20 to 25 minutes, then cool. Melt 1 square chocolate and 2 tablespoons butter. Remove from heat and stir in sifted powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Blend in enough water (about 2 tablespoons) to make almost pourable consistency. Frost brownies, then top with walnut halves.
