GRANDMAW HARBIN'S APPLESAUCE
CAKE
 
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg
1 1/2 c. applesauce
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
2 c. sifted flour
1/4-1/2 c. cocoa
2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. raisins
1 tsp. vanilla

To make raisins more soft, put them in a saucepan with water and bring to a boil. Let do so for about 1 minute and then completely drain. Cream together shortening, sugar; add egg and mix. Add applesauce. In separate bowl sift together all dry ingredients. Then add the dry ingredients to the cream mixture. For a decorative effect, can use a bundt pan. Bake 30 to 45 minutes at 350 degrees.

ICING: 1 box 10X sugar; follow the recipe on box for butter frosting, cut recipe in half. Add cocoa until color suits.
