DORA'S WHITE SODA COOKIES | |
3 c. sugar 2 c. raisins 1/2 c. milk 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking soda (well rounded) 7 c. flour 1 c. lard or Crisco or butter 1 1/2 c. hot water Melt shortening, add sugar and raisins, mixing well. Add salt; mix soda in the hot water and add to lard mixture. Add flour and milk to make a soft dough. Refrigerate long enough to stiffen dough. I make balls with hands wet with cold water and press to thickness desired (quite thick) on cookie pan (ungreased). Bake in 350 degree oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until brown. |
