POTATO SOUP 
5 potatoes, peeled and sliced to about 1/2-inch thick
salt and pepper to taste
1 onion, sliced
3 tbsp. butter
3 tbsp. flour
1/2 c. water

Cook potatoes in 5-quart pot. Add butter, onion, salt and pepper to taste. Cook until just about done. Make thicken, of flour and water. Stir in slowly, then let simmer. If it gets too thick, add a little more water. Serve with grilled cheese sandwich or bread and butter. Good on a cold winter day!
