YUGOSLAVIAN DREAM BARS 
1 c. butter
1 egg yolk
2 1/2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. lemon extract
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
4 egg whites
3/4 c. coarsely ground nuts
1 c. blackberry jelly
Nuts for topping

Cream butter with 1/2 cup of sugar. Add egg yolk, salt, and flour sifted before measuring. Mix together. Pat dough in thin layer in an ungreased 10 x 15 inch pan. Beat egg whites until stiff, gradually adding the cup of sugar. Beat until a meringue consistency is produced. Fold in walnuts and lemon flavoring. Spread jelly over dough, then swirl meringue on top. Sprinkle with extra chopped nuts. Bake 40 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool and cut into bars. Makes 40 squares. Suggested that only blackberry jelly be used.
