HAM - CHEESE CHOWDER | |
1/2 c. carrots, coarsely shredded 1/4 c. onion, chopped 1/4 c. butter 3 tbsp. all-purpose flour 4 c. milk 1 1/2 c. ham, sliced 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce 1 c. cheese (Cheez Whiz or Velveeta) 1 can corn (optional) In large saucepan, cook carrots and onion in butter until tender, but not brown. Blend in flour; add milk. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly. Stir in ham and Worcestershire; heat thoroughly. Add cheese. Stir until melted. Makes about 4 to 5 servings. You can double everything because 1 batch doesn't last long. A thinner flour that won't lump up is Wondra, found in the baking section of store. |
