GRAPENUT CUSTARD PUDDING 
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. Grapenuts
4 eggs
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 qt. (4 c.) scalded milk
Flavor with vanilla
Pinch of salt

Mix sugar, dry grapenuts and salt. Beat eggs. Scald milk, then combine with eggs, dry ingredients and vanilla. Optional: sprinkle top with nutmeg. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour in a pan of water.

This is very similar to my recipe except for prep method. I cook the grape nuts in the milk while it's being scalded, and wisk or beat the sugar into the eggs with 2 or 3 tsp vanilla. I put the egg mixture into a buttered casserole and then add the hot milk slowly while stirring. Nutmeg is not optional! This has been in the family for generations!
