HOLIDAY LEMON BREAD 
1/2 c. shortening or butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 1/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
Grated peel of 1 whole lemon
1/2 c. milk
1/4 c. sugar
Juice of 1 lemon
1/8 c. powdered sugar

Cream shortening, 1 cup sugar and eggs. Sift together flour, salt and baking powder; mix in lemon peel. Add flour mixture to shortening mixture, alternating with milk. When blended, bake in a loaf pan at 350 degrees for 1 hour. While bread is still warm, prick the top and drizzle with mixture of 1/4 cup sugar and lemon juice. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
