CHOCOLATE CAKE 
#1:

1 1/2 c. flour
1 1/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. cocoa
1 1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar

#2:

2/3 c. evaporated milk
2/3 c. shortening

#3:

1/3 c. evaporated milk
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla

Sift together all of #1 ingredients, then add #2 ingredients. Beat 2 minutes at medium speed, then add #3 ingredients. Beat 1 minute and pour into 9x13 inch cake pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

FLUFFY BOILED ICING (or 7 Minute Icing) :

1 c. sugar
2 tbsp. cold water
2 tbsp. light Karo syrup
2 egg whites
1 tsp. vanilla

Put water in bottom of a double boiler and bring to a boil. Put all ingredients except vanilla in the top of the double boiler. Beat with mixture at high speed for 7 minutes until it forms solid peaks. Take the top off the double boiler. Add vanilla and stir. Spread on cake.
