HOMEMADE PIZZA
2 tbsp. oil
2/3 c. minced onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 cans peeled tomatoes
1/4 c. tomato paste
1 tsp. sweet basil leaves
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt

In deep medium sized kettle, heat oil. Add onion and saute lightly, stirring frequently, 4 minutes (do not brown). Add garlic and saute, stirring one minute. Add remaining ingredients. Break up tomatoes with spoon.

Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally, 50 minutes or until thick. Remove from heat and set aside to cool slightly at room temperature. Makes about 2 1/2 cups or enough for 2 pizzas.

DOUGH:

1 c. boiling water
2 tbsp. butter
1 pkg. dry yeast
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar

Put boiling water and butter in mixing bowl and stir with wooden spoon until butter is melted. Cool to lukewarm. Sprinkle mixture with yeast. Let stand one minute. Stir with spoon, let stand 4 minutes. Put remaining ingredients in separate bowl and stir with fork to mix.

Add dry ingredients to liquid and stir until dough leaves sides of bowl. Oil another medium size bowl. Flour hands, shape dough in ball and put in oiled bowl. Turn dough over so that oiled side is up. Cover with sheet of plastic and let rise in warm place 45 minutes, or until dough has doubled.
