SARAH'S BEST HOMEMADE HOT
CHOCOLATE

1 tbsp. cocoa powder
2 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. water
1 c. milk
a bit of vanilla, if desired

Combine cocoa, sugar, and water in a small saucepan. Heat it on low heat, stirring occasionally to prevent the paste from sticking to the pan. After about 1 to 2 minutes, add milk and vanilla. Mix it all together until it reaches your preferred temperature.

Easy. You can also make this by microwave instead of a pan. Heat 1 cup of water first in a measuring cup. Put the dried ingredients in the mug (I used powdered whole milk), mix those with a small whisk, then pour in the hot water and stir it. You might want to add a little more or less of some things for personal taste, but the recipe works well as it is.

This is good. I have never made hot cocoa from scratch before and this was very easy to do. I have only ever had the instant hot cocoa, so this tastes much different. This could grow on me! Thanks for the recipe.

Pretty good if you add some more sugar. But even without extra sugar this recipe is really good and really easy to make. I for one think we should appreciate not having to set in the kitchen for an hour making hot chocolate.

I'm a big chocolate fanatic and couldn't believe how incredibly delicious this was. We are snowed in right now and I didn't have cocoa powder so instead I used instant chocolate pudding. It took the same amount of time to make this as it would have for the instant hot chocolate! Thanks for the recipe.

I made a large batch 6 servings and used 1 cup of "half and half" instead of milk and it was so creamy. This was a very good base recipe. Also made it with adding a tsp. of cinnamon. Also very good.

Just made this pretty good and easy. Not sweet enough for me, if I had some chocolate syrup it probably would be a lot better.

Delicious hot chocolate!!! So much better than the boxed kind. I actually jazzed mine up a bit with a dash of chili powder, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Spicy and sweet, and SO warming. (Not really recommended for people who think hot cocoa should taste like Swiss Miss, however...;)

Wow. This is so good! I have made it more times then I can count. Loved it when it was just slighty warm.
