CRISP BRAN COOKIES 
1 stick of butter
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. chopped pecans
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1 1/3 c. all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. Bran Flakes cereal

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl cream butter, sugar and brown sugar. Add egg and vanilla. Beat until fluffy. Stir in flour, baking soda and nutmeg. Mix well. Stir in nuts and Bran Flakes until blended. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheet, 2 inches apart. Bake 10 minutes or until golden brown. Makes about 4 dozen.
