1 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
6 oz. chocolate chips
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and vanilla. Mix well. Add flour and salt and mix. Spread 1/4 inch thick on 12x18 cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 18 minutes. While still hot, spread melted chocolate chips on top and sprinkle with nuts. Cut while still hot. If using jelly roll pan, grease pan first.
