LORNA DOONE 
1 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Stir in flour. Chill several hours. Divide in half. Roll each half until 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Cut with a square cookie cutter (or cut with a knife to make squares). Bake at 300 degrees for 30 minutes (go by time, not looks). Remove from pan and cool.
