GRANDMA'S APPLE CRISP 
12 tart apples, pared, cored and sliced
1/2 c. water
3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. sugar
3 tbsp. butter, softened

Put apples into greased baking dish. Add cinnamon and sprinkle with water. Mix sugar and flour; work in butter with fingers until mixture is crumbly. Spread over apples and bake uncovered, about 30 minutes. Serve warm or cool with whipped cream or ice cream. Hint: do not cover to store or it will lose its "crisp".
