BAKED BEEF STROGANOFF | |
1 onion, chopped fine 1/2 c. butter 1/3 c. flour 1/4 tsp. each; pepper, paprika Water 2 c. sour cream or sour half and half 2 cloves garlic, mashed with 2 tsp. salt 2 1/2 lbs. sirloin steak, cut in 1/2 inch strips 1 tsp. dry mustard 1 can (4 oz.) mushrooms 1 can (6 oz.) tomato paste Saute onion and garlic in 1/4 cup butter; remove onion and garlic from pan. Dredge steak in flour; brown on all sides in remaining butter. Brown the meat in to batches. Do not crowd it in the pan. Stir in onion, garlic and seasonings. Drain mushrooms; add enough water to liquid to make 1 cup in all. Combine mushrooms, liquid and tomato paste. Mix thoroughly with meat mixture. Fold in sour cream. Turn into a casserole. Bake uncovered at 375 degrees for one hour. |
