5 HOUR STEW 
2 lbs. beef stew meat
4 carrots
4 potatoes
2 or more ribs of celery
3 lg. onions
1 lg. can tomatoes
1 tomato can of water
3 tbsp. tapioca
1 tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. pepper (or to taste)
2 tsp. monosodium glutamate
1 green pepper
Red wine

Spread the stew meat over the bottom of a turkey roaster. Cut the carrots, potatoes, celery, onions and green pepper into large hunks and arrange them over the meat. Pour the canned tomatoes over all, then pour the can of water over the whole thing. Sprinkle with the tapioca, seasonings and wine.

Cover and bake at 275 degrees for 4 hours (there's no need even to check on it during this time), then remove the cover and bake for 1 hour more. (This thickens the stew.) Serve with a tossed salad and hot bread or rolls, it makes a complete, hearty meal for 6. To serve more than 6 people, simply increase the quantities proportionately. No problem!
