MAPLE NUT BREAD 
1 c. boiling water
1 c. dates, chopped
1 tbsp. butter
1 egg, beaten
1/2 c. maple syrup
1/2 c. pecans, chopped
1 c. flour, sifted
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1 c. whole wheat flour

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl pout water over dates and butter. Stir until butter melts. Add egg, maple syrup and nuts; set aside. Sift together flour, baking powder and soda and salt. Add unsifted whole wheat flour. Combine flour and liquid mixture. Stir until blended. Pour into greased loaf pan. Bake 1 hour. Cool before serving.
