CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE 
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking powder
2 1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
6 to 12 oz. chocolate chips
1/2 c. nuts (optional)

Line a 12 inch pizza pan with waxed paper. Cream together butter and shortening. Add sugars and beat well. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well until evenly mixed. Sift together flour and baking soda. Use a wooden spoon to stir into butter mixture. Stir in chips. Scoop batter into pizza pan and use a knife (I use my hands) to spread mixture to within 1 1/2 inches of the sides of the pan. Cover with plastic wrap and chill one hour. Remove wrap and bake 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Remove from oven and cool in pan. Can be decorated for special occasions.
