APPLE DATE SQUARES | |
2 apples, chopped 2/3 c. water 1/2 c. pitted dates, chopped 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 c. walnuts 1 1/2 c. flour 1/2 tsp. salt 3/4 c. brown sugar 1 1/2 c. quick oats 3/4 c. butter, melted In medium saucepan, mix apples, water, dates and sugar. Bring to a boil. Cook and stir occasionally 10 minutes. Cool. In medium bowl, combine flour, salt, sugar, oats and nuts. Add butter and stir until completely mixed. Reserve 1 cup crumbs. Press remaining crumbs in bottom of 9-inch pan. Cover with apple mixture. Sprinkle crumbs on top. Bake 45 minutes at 350 degrees. Potassium ++, Carbohydrates ++, Vitamin C + |
