BAVARIAN TORTE 
1/2 c. butter
1/3 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. vanilla
3/4 c. flour
2/3 c. chopped nuts

Cut ingredients with pastry cutter until mealy. Use 9 x 9 inch pan. Bake 10 minutes at 350 degrees. Don't overbake.

FILLING:

1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1 egg
1/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Beat smooth and pour onto baked crust.

TOPPING:

1 lg. can pears (1 lb.), drained and sliced thin
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. sugar

Place pear slices on filling and sprinkle cinnamon and sugar and bake approximately 25-30 minutes at 375 degrees. Refrigerate before serving. Cut into small squares.
