Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Cream 1/2 cup butter, 1/3 cup sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla. Blend in 1 cup flour. Spray a 9 inch spring form pan with Pam. Spread the dough on bottom and 1 1/2 inch high around sides.
Combine and mix well: 8 ounces of cream cheese and 1/4 cup sugar. Add 1 egg and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. Pour into crust.
Combine: 1/3 cup sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. Toss with 4 cups (peeled and sliced) apples. Spoon over the cream cheese mixture. Sprinkle with 1/4 cup almonds.
Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 400 degrees and continue baking for 25 more minutes. Loosen the torte from the rim but cool completely before removing it.
